Eduard Winkler (born January 13, 1884 in St. Petersburg; died January 30, 1978 in Munich)

Eduard Winkler was a Russian born German artist. The son of a German-born factory owner, from 1901 he studied at the School of Applied Arts in Nuremberg and from 1906 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich under Peter Halm.

 

In 1940 and 1941 he participated in the Great German Art exhibitions in Munich.

 

In 1946 he initiated the founding of the Association for original etching.

 

Winkler naturalistically conceived landscapes, genre scenes and portraits were still committed to the style of the Munich School of the 19th century. Artist located in the Bavarian State Painting Collections, and the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung Munich.
